Protec joins the EHL

The Protec JR Ducks!!!

The Protec Ducks youth hockey club is proud to announce the purchase of its very own JR hockey franchise, the JR Ducks will begin its play here at the Protec Ponds for the 2020/2021 season. The newly purchased franchise will be called the Protec JR Ducks and will play in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL).

Located in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions of the United States, the Eastern Hockey League (EHL) and its 19 teams celebrates its 7th season in 2019-20. For the past four years, the EHL has finished as the leader in the Direct-To-College Advancement at the Division II and III levels. This past season alone, the EHL accounted for nearly 1 in every 5 freshmen on Division II and III rosters; accounting for over 1000 NCAA college commitments, the league has also placed a numerous number of players into the Division I level.

To go along with the NCAA Commitments, the EHL has also helped over 75 players work their way up the USA Hockey Ladder of Development to the North American Hockey League (NAHL) and the United States Hockey League (USHL).

The Protec JR Duck are also officially announcing that Terry Watt has been named the General Manager and Head Coach for our very first owned JR hockey team here at Protec Ponds.

“I am extremely excited that we were able to buy this JR franchise and bring it here to the Ducks family. This is no-doubt a game changer for the entire organization and its youth hockey players. Our Ducks players will now have a direct path to NCAA hockey with the organization they grow up playing for. The EHL is one of the best JR leagues in all of North America and it is notorious for college commitments, and that’s directly because of its known credibility from college coaches. Our youth Ducks players will now have a goal in site, their own JR team to inspire to be on. The biggest immediate impact our families will notice is our JR players on the ice frequently working directly with our youth players during their team practices. This will be a great way to help the development and growth of our youth players, by providing more attention and coaching for all youth players involved. The purchase of this JR franchise is a true testament to how dedicated our Protec owners are at ensuring that the Ducks Hockey Club continues to be considered an elite hockey destination for all players and families”. -Terry Watt

The JR Ducks team will be hosting their first open-tryout April (17-19) 2020, here at Protec Ponds.
