The adaptive ice skating program is inclusive in terms of age, race, gender, and ability. Participants may be Wounded Warriors, youth, and adults with disabilities. Disabilities may include: autism, emotional disturbance, post-traumatic stress disorder, intellectual disability, learning disability, traumatic brain injury, orthopedic impairment, speech, hearing, or visual impairment, and multiple disabilities.
Ice skating has many benefits for individuals with or without disabilities. Not only is it great fun, ice skating can positively impact social skills, physical strength and balance, and improve mood. The skills that are learned on the ice transcend into other areas, thus improving the quality of life. Skaters learn to fall and get back up to accomplish their dreams.
