The New York Rangers Learn To Play program is a hockey learning experience for ages 5-9 that runs each year between January – March. Each participating child receives free hockey equipment before the start of each program, so getting going is quick and easy!
After the 12 week program comes to an end, you’ll receive information on Protec Learn To Skate and the Protec Hockey Academy. This info can be found on the Protec website or the NYR Learn To Play website. Unless the participants went into the NYR LTP program with skating experience already under their belt, it is common to join Learn To Skate to perfect basic skating skills before continuing on in hockey. Please don’t feel that this is a step backwards upon leaving the NYR LTP program, as it is highly important to have skating down before picking up a stick. The Protec LTS and LTP programs run all throughout the year. A Learn To Skate program starts up every two months in Jan, Mar, May, July, Sep, Nov, and is for all ages. The Protec Hockey Academy program usually lasts around 8-10 weeks, starting up every Feb, May, July, Sep, Nov, and is geared toward 4-13 year olds.
