Protec Ponds’ Off-Ice Training Program
Off-Ice training is a class specially designed for figure skaters. In the sport of figure skating a skater must have strong core strength in order to complete difficult jumps, spins and edges. Our classes will help skaters build specific body muscles in their abdomen, legs, arms and back which are needed for skating. Skaters will use plyometrics, exercise balls, pilates and other exercises to promote strength and flexibility.
Skaters will also work on the jumps they have learned on the ice in this class. It is very important for skaters to be able to land single, double and even triple jumps off of the ice before they can begin landing them on the ice. Proper Off-Ice jump technique allows a skater to master the skills necessary to complete a jump in a much faster manner than on ice training alone.
Skaters need to wear tight clothing (skating attire is fine) and sneakers for class. Slip on shoes and boots are not permitted.
Our Spring Off-Ice Program takes place on Tuesday Evenings and Saturday Mornings.
Tuesdays from 6:30 – 7:00 PM
March 20 (No 3/27), April 3, 10, 17, 24, May 1, 8, 15, 22, 29, June 5, 12, 19
Purchase all 13 Tuesday classes for $195 or pay as you go for $20 per class.
Saturdays from 9:45 – 10:30 AM
March 24 (No 3/31), April 7, 14, 21, 28, May 5, 12, 19 (No 5/26), June 2, 9, 16, 23
Purchase all 12 Saturday classes for $240 or pay as you go for $25 per class.
Classes are open to all skaters.
